UYLA lauds Okowa for sustaining power rotation in Delta State

The immediate past Governor of Delta State and Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Vice Presidential Candidate in the 2023 elections, Sen. Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa has been commended for ensuring the sustainability of the lofty arrangements of power rotation by the founding fathers of the party to rotate the Governorship position across the three Senatorial Districts of Delta State.
The Urhobo Youth Leaders Association (UYLA) made the commendation in Asaba during a courtesy visit on the Ekweme of the Universe.
UYLA’s National President, Olorogun (Amb) Samuel Onoriode Oghotomo, JP and National Secretary, Chief Augustine Ogheneovo Atiti described Okowa’s firm belief on power rotation in Delta State by ensuring the Urhobo people of Delta Central Senatorial District produced the Governor in 2023 after Delta South and North have enjoyed the rotational arrangements for equity, fairness, peace and justice as commendable and worthy of emulation.
UYLA further thanked Okowa for his legacy projects in the state (2015-2023) such as the multi-billion naira Prof. Chike Edozien Secretariat Complex for civil servants; the 8.5 Megawatts Asaba Independent Power Plant, IPP; construction of Ogheye Ultra Modern Concrete Floating Market; Asaba Film Village; the development of an Agro-Industrial Park in Aboh- Ogwashi-Uku; the Kwale Industrial Park and establishment of multiple technical schools plus the three new universities in Agbor, Asaba and Ozoro that transformed Delta State beyond expectations.
In his response, Okowa expressed delight over the massive support of UYLA for the administration of his successor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori and prayed God Almighty to continue to keep the group together.
Highlights of the courtesy visit include UYLA’s presentation of an Award of Excellence in leadership/ governance and Christmas Card to Okowa.
