UYLA COMMENDS GOV. OBOREVWORI FOR TRANSFORMING RIVERINE COMMUNITIES

The Urhobo Youth Leaders’ Association (UYLA) has lauded the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, for what it described as a bold and deliberate effort to transform riverine communities through massive infrastructure development.

In a statement released on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 by UYLA National President, Chief (Amb.) Samuel Onoriode Oghotomo (JP) and National Secretary, Chief (Dr.) Augustine Ogheneovo Atiti (JP), the group praised the Governor’s administration for prioritising long-neglected areas.

The association noted that recent projects, especially the commissioning of the 31-kilometre Ohoror–Bomadi Road, have begun to change the socio-economic realities of the people, describing the project as a “game changer” that will enhance connectivity, reduce travel time, and stimulate economic activities across several local government areas.

According to the statement, the Oborevwori-led administration has demonstrated strong political will in addressing the peculiar challenges of riverine terrain, which had for years hindered development in many communities. “This is the kind of leadership that gives hope to the people. For too long, our riverine communities have been neglected, but today we are witnessing a new phase of inclusive development,” the statement read.

The group further commended the Governor’s adherence to the MORE Agenda, emphasising that its focus on meaningful development, opportunities for all, realistic reforms, and enhanced peace and security is already yielding tangible results.

UYLA also highlighted ongoing improvements in power supply, road construction, and security infrastructure, noting that such interventions are critical to improving livelihoods and attracting investment to the state.

Reaffirming its support, the association urged the Governor to sustain the momentum and ensure that development reaches every corner of the state.

The statement also called on residents to continue supporting the administration in its drive to build a more prosperous and united Delta State.
