Udu PDP Elders And Leaders Forum Aligned With Oborevwori To defect To APC.

Udu, Delta State, April 24, 2025 – In a bold and strategic move, the Udu PDP Elders and Leaders Forum held a significant meeting at the residence of Deacon Eddie Onosorhue to announce a major shift in Udu’s political dynamics. The decision, made by prominent members of the political group, marks the formal defection of the Udu PDP leadership to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a move that could reshape the political landscape of Delta State.

The decision to leave the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and join the APC was inspired by the actions of Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, who has already taken the step to join the APC. The elders and leaders of Udu have resolved to follow their governor, affirming their unwavering loyalty to his leadership.

The motion for defection was moved by Chief Dr. Henry Afure Sakpra, a well-respected figure within the party, and was seconded by Hon. Joseph Choja, widely known as Akura Cash Flow. Their strong endorsement of the motion signals a unified shift in Udu’s political leadership.

In a statement made to the press after the meeting, Olorogun (Hon) Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode JP FCIA, the Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, explained the reasoning behind the decision. He outlined that the national PDP had lost its way, no longer reflecting the party’s original values and vision. “The PDP at the national level has become a shadow of its former self, ailing and struggling to maintain its leadership,” Oyibode said. “After much reflection and evaluation, we have concluded that we can no longer be part of a party that has lost its direction.”

Oyibode further emphasized that the defection to the APC was driven by the desire to align with a party that holds the promise of future growth and development for both Delta State and Nigeria. He said, “We believe the APC is the party best positioned to drive the progress we need. We are confident that in the APC, we can contribute more meaningfully to the development of our state.”

Deacon Eddie Onosorhue also addressed the group, expressing deep concerns about the state of the PDP, particularly its internal divisions. “The PDP is broken, and its foundation has been undermined by power struggles within,” Onosorhue remarked. “This painful realization has compelled us to seek a more viable political platform in the APC.”

In closing, Onosorhue affirmed the association’s full commitment to the APC, declaring, “After careful consideration, we believe the APC is the only viable party that can restore hope and political relevance to our community. This is the way forward for us.”

He urged fellow members to embrace the decision, acknowledging that some may still have reservations but stressing the critical importance of moving forward together. “The future of our community is in our hands. Tomorrow’s broader meeting will reaffirm our resolution, and anyone with concerns is welcome to share them,” Onosorhue concluded. “But we can no longer invest our future in a party that has lost its way.”
