Udu LGC Chairman Oyibode Mobilizes for Monthly Sanitation, Sets Sights on Cleaner Environment
In a decisive move to make Udu Local Government Council one of the cleanest Local government areas in Delta State, the Executive Chairman, Olorogun (Hon.) Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode JP FCIA, spearheaded a comprehensive clean-up initiative during the monthly sanitation exercise today.
Mobilizing health officers of the Council and other stakeholders, Olorogun Oyibode led the team to enhance environmental cleanliness across Udu. Addressing newsmen, he expressed his commitment to sustaining these efforts, announcing plans to intensify outreach and involve stakeholders in future sanitation exercises. “Next month, we will make announcements across Udu communities and involve stakeholders to ensure wider participation and compliance,” he stated.
During the sanitation drive, Olorogun Oyibode visited several Udu key markets, including Jigbale, Owhase, Udu Market and Express Junction. He issued a stern warning to traders operating under high tension granting a one-month grace period for them to relocate. “Strict laws will be enforced after the expiration of this period,” he warned, underscoring the importance of adhering to safety and cleanliness standards.
The Chairman called for the cooperation of all Udu residents in achieving his vision for a cleaner and healthier local government area. “I urge everyone to support the good work we have started and work together to actualize this vision,” he appealed.
The exercise also saw the establishment of a mobile court which charged environmental defaulters, emphasizing the Council’s commitment to maintaining public health and sanitation standards.
Sanitarian Elizabeth Okochi, Head of the Environment Department, revealed that the Council would arrest and prosecute anyone caught dumping refuse indiscriminately. She commended the Chairman’s efforts and reiterated the Council’s dedication to enforcing environmental laws through the mobile courts.
