Udu Kingdom WhatsApp Group Pays Congratulatory Visit to Udu LGC Chairman, Oyibode

Otor-Udu, 19/08/2024 — Members of the Udu Kingdom WhatsApp group, led by their Chairman, Mr. Famous Akpojotor, paid a congratulatory visit to the Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Olorogun(Hon.) Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode JP FCIA, at his office in the Otor-Udu Headquarters on Monday, August 19, 2024.

During the visit, Mr. Akpojotor highlighted the significance of the group, comprising Udu sons and daughters both at home and abroad. He informed the Chairman that following various discussions within the group, a committee was formed, resulting in a working document aimed at enhancing developmental strides in Udu. The document addresses issues such as the correct naming of Udu, with some signboards currently bearing “Warri,” and unexecuted Udu projects listed in the Delta State budget, among other concerns.

Mr. Akpojotor also extended the group’s gratitude to Olorogun Oyibode for his participation in a recent Zoom meeting, which showcased his humility. He urged the Chairman to lend his voice to the resuscitation of the Delta Steel Company (DSC), pointing out that unlike Ajaokuta Steel Company, DSC was privatized, which has affected its operations.

In response, Olorogun Oyibode expressed his appreciation to the group for their patriotism and commitment to the Udu Kingdom. He assured them that he would not disappoint the people of Udu, recognizing the high expectations placed on him as a technocrat. Addressing the issue of DSC, he acknowledged the deep frustration felt by Udu residents over the matter and assured them that the Council would tackle the problem of incorrect naming through public enlightenment campaigns.

The Chairman also announced that preparations are underway for a 20-year Udu Development Economic Plan, with Udu sons and daughters forming the Development Economic Team. He emphasized the need for higher institutions in Udu, such as a college of education and a polytechnic, to foster development. Olorogun Oyibode pledged to leave a lasting legacy as the Executive Chairman of Udu, citing recent initiatives like the engagement of 200 women sweepers from Federal Wards 1 to 10 and emergency road repairs in Udu.

He concluded by promising to maintain an open-door policy, serving all residents of Udu, irrespective of their political affiliations or religious beliefs.

The visit culminated with the presentation of the working document to Olorogun Oyibode.
