Udu Communities Unanimously Reject Planned National Protest”

In a decisive move, the Union of Udu Communities, representing all communities within Udu, has unanimously resolved not to partake in the planned national protest. This decision was announced during a town hall meeting held earlier today at the council secretariat.

The Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Olorogun (Hon.) Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode JP FCIA, highlighted the adverse consequences experienced during the previous cashless policy protest. He recalled how commercial banks in Udu were burned, forcing residents to travel to Warri and its environs for commercial activities. Emphasizing the potential for the upcoming protest to be hijacked by hoodlums, Oyibode urged all President Generals to inform their tenants, children, and other community members that Udu is not in support of the planned protest.

Chief Austin Emaduku, the President General of the Union of Udu Communities, acknowledged that while the right to protest is guaranteed by the Nigerian constitution, the current planned protest is being organized by faceless individuals and does not reflect the interests of Udu Kingdom. He cautioned that leaderless revolutions can lead to anarchy, pointing out the economic devastation caused by protests in Libya, Sudan, and Kenya. Emaduku stressed that Udu, being a cosmopolitan kingdom, will not allow strangers to incite mayhem under the guise of protest.

Hon. Dr. Henry Sakpra, Chairman of the Delta State Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Agency, reiterated that the planned protest is not in the interest of Udu people and should be shunned.

DPO of Ovwian Aladja Police Station, CSP Bulus Musa, advised community vigilantes to remain vigilant, assuring that law enforcement agencies will stay alert and work with any information provided by community presidents.

The motion to reject the planned national protest in Udu was moved by Comrade Paul Rhota President of Oleri Community, and supported by Mr. Dele Okuku, President of Ovwian Community; Chief Joseph Ogoyibo, Chairman of Elders Council Erhiephihor Community; Mr. Efe Edore, Youth Chairman of Obubu Community; and Mrs. Grace Okubio, Eghweya of Owhase Community. The town hall meeting saw the attendance of 20 community presidents, members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Udu, Udu youth leaders, elders, women, and representatives of the Keke and Tricycle Association in Udu.

Mrs. Omovie-Oputu Najite Omojewve, Vice Chairman, Chief Austin Emaduku, President General of Udu Kingdom.Hon. Andrew Gbise, Secretary Designate of Udu LGC, Chief Omodio Enajite Mudiaga, HPM, Hon. Emmanuel Ogolo, Special Adviser to Udu Council Chairman, and executive members of the Union of Udu Communities.
