SMK Commends Ex-Governor Uduaghan For Endorsing Okowa, Oborevwori.
By Onome Oghenetega
The Secretary to Warri North Local Government Council and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Samuel Meyiwa Khalil aka SMK, has applauded immediate past governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, for endorsing the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for the 2023 general elections.
SMK, who is also the Secretary of All Delta State Local Government Secretaries Forum, said the endorsement of the party’s candidates has placed the PDP on the path of total victory in the next year’s elections in the state.
Speaking after the Delta South PDP Leaders and Stakeholders meeting ahead of the flag-off of the ward-to-ward campaign of the party in Warri, Khalil stated that the action of the former governor showed clearly that Dr. Uduaghan placed the interest of the party above personal interest.
According to the Warri North Council Secretary, the endorsement of the party’s candidates particularly those of the PDP Vice Presidential candidate, Okowa and governorship candidate of the party and Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Oborevwori as a major reconciliatory effort ahead of the elections.
Khalil, who also hails from Abigborodo Ward 6 with the former Governor, explained that “I’m particularly happy because, Dr Uduaghan knows Sheriff in and out, having appointed him Special Adviser on Security while he was Governor. No one can tell our leader (Uduaghan) about Sheriff because he worked for him before now. I had waited for this good news for a long time and I am happy it has happened.”
He also used the opportunity to appeal to aggrieved party members to follow the footsteps of the former governor by joining forces with all candidates of the party to deliver PDP in the next elections.
SMK enjoined all party faithful to give room for reconcilation and work for the victory of the party, adding ” the umbrella is big enough for all members of the party and those who wish to join us. PDP is winning Delta State in 2023.”
