Rep. Ukodhiko flags Off Skills Training, Empowerment Programme For 100 Constituents

The member representing Isoko North/South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko, on Thursday flagged off a skills training and empowerment programme for 100 women and youths of the constituency.

Welcoming participants to the training exercise held in Ozoro, Special Assistant to the House of Representatives member, Pastor Sunny Elueni, stated that the programme was organized by the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) in collaboration with the office of Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko.

The Federal legislator’s senior aide emphasized that the programme would consist of two sessions both theoretical and practical covering car-tracking, web design, photography, tailoring, tiling, and POP installation.

He urged participants to take the training seriously, make the most of the skills they would acquire, and utilize the starter packs that would be distributed at the end of the five-day programme.

The facilitator, Hon. Ukodhiko, who was ably represented by the Chairman of the Delta State Hospital Management Board, Dr. Paul Oweh, congratulated the participants and extended his goodwill.

Dr. Oweh, who also served as chairman of the occasion at the flag-off ceremony, remarked, “Since Rt. Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko assumed office as our representative, his vision for skills acquisition and empowerment has been clear and impactful.”

He continued, “Rt. Hon. Ukodhiko has conducted similar exercises on several occasions in both Isoko North and South LGAs. Now, for those of you participating, I urge you to pay close attention to everything that will be taught.

“This is the best form of empowerment a leader can offer his people. It is sustainable, something you can learn and continue to practice, generating income to support yourselves.

“This is far better than the occasional handouts some political leaders give, which offer no long-term benefit. In fact, this is the proverbial teaching of how to fish, that is what Rt. Hon. Ukodhiko is doing for the people of Isoko.

“The methods of how to fish will be taught to you by experts and resource persons present here. So, once again, I urge you to stay attentive during the training and not waste your time so you don’t miss out on this opportunity.

“Be present for every day of the training. At the end of the programme, whatever starter packs or support given to you by our Representative are intended to help you start a business in the field you’ve been trained in,” Dr. Oweh advised.

In a goodwill message, the Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Political Matters, Hon. Daniel Tutumor, noted, “There is nothing better than self-reliance, having something of your own to do. Today, aside from being a political office holder, I am also a proud welder.”

The Governor’s senior aide urged participants to take full advantage of the training opportunity, as it was designed to reduce unemployment in Isoko.

Similarly, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Enahoro Michael, commended the member representing Isoko Federal Constituency for initiating the skills acquisition programme and urged beneficiaries not to sell their starter packs but to make good use of them.

Senior Special Assistant to Delta Governor on Talent Development, Mr Ugagaoghene Ogheneyole, Pastor Oladeji Oluseyi were among resource persons who taught the participants in the first day of the skills training.
