Protest Misguided: Oguma Not Linked to Udu Road Project – Udu Communities Youth Leaders Forum Chairman Clarifies.

In the wake of a protest staged by some concerned residents and commuters over the deteriorating state of the Ovwian/Udu Road, the Chairman of the Udu Communities Youth Leaders Forum (UCYLF) and Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Mobilization, Deacon Kelvin Kpomah, has described as misleading and factually incorrect the allegations linking Obakpor Engineering and its Chairman, Olorogun John Oguma, to the Express Junction Ovwian- ECN road project.

Reacting to the statements made during the protest, Deacon Kpomah clarified that Obakpor Engineering Limited was never awarded the Express Junction Ovwian- ECN road contract for the Rather, the company is currently handling the Usiefrun-Orhuwhorun Road project, which is progressing steadily under the supervision of the relevant government agencies.

“It is unfortunate and quite disappointing that protesters, either out of misinformation or political motives, decided to point fingers at individuals and companies that are in no way connected to the road in question. For the avoidance of doubt, Express Junction Ovwian- ECN
Road was not awarded to Obakpor Engineering or to Olorogun John Oguma. The contract they are handling is for the Usiefrun-Orhuwhorun axis, which is currently under active construction,” Kpomah stated.

He emphasized that while the pains of residents and road users are valid and acknowledged, it is important that calls for intervention and accountability be guided by facts and fairness, not sentiments or political mischief.

Kpomah also reaffirmed that the Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Olorogun Hon. Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode JP FCIA, has on several occasions drawn the attention of the Delta State Government to the deplorable state of the Ovwian/Udu Road and continues to lobby for urgent state-level intervention.

“The Udu Council Chairman is deeply concerned about the suffering of our people. He has consistently engaged the appropriate authorities to address the road’s condition. We are united in the call for the road to be fixed, but let us channel our agitations responsibly,” he added.

Deacon Kpomah called on all relevant government agencies, including the Delta State Ministry of Works, NDDC, DESOPADEC, and others, to prioritize the reconstruction of the said Road, describing it as a critical economic and social artery in the Udu Local Government Area.

He further appealed to youths and stakeholders to refrain from spreading misinformation and to continue to advocate peacefully and constructively for development in the area.
