Palaces, ICT Centres, And Town Halls Built by Elumelu Commissioned by Arenyeka To Boost Oborevwori’s Vision
The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, has commissioned several infrastructure projects, including palaces, ICT centres, and town halls, built by the former minority leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, for the people of Aniocha North Local Government Area.
The projects commissioned on Thursday included one town hall each at Issele-Azagba, Ezi, and Idumuje-Ugboko; one palace each at Onicha-Onola, Obomkpa, and Idumuje-Unor; an ICT Centre at Onicha-Ugbo; and ICT Centre, town hall and market road in Issele-Uku Kingdom; and a farm road in Onicha-Uku Kingdom.
In his speech during the commissioning, Arenyeka stated that the new town halls, palaces, ICT centres, and roads align with the M.O.R.E Agenda of the state government, which encourages infrastructure development.
He expressed gratitude to the former minority leader for his developmental strides that promote the party.
According to him, “What you have done today by building these palaces is that you have taken civilization to another level in our state.”
“Our traditional rulers, students, road users, community leaders, and everyone in the society will benefit from your projects.
“From the community leaders’ speeches, it is evident that you also plan to ensure the availability of civic centers equipped with all necessary facilities for a palace. By God’s grace, that dream will come to pass”
“I want to thank you and hope that, in line with our M.O.R.E Agenda, more developments, more roads, and more projects will come to our people.”
The Delta State PDP Chairman advised members of the communities to make use of the facilities and ensure that they are maintained and protected for long-term benefits and usage.
Earlier, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, while introducing the completed projects, noted that the palaces were built in accordance with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E Agenda, which aims to improve the well-being of the traditional institution in Delta State.
He explained that historically, most communities either had hereditary or age-ranked rulers who often used private homes as palaces. “What normally happens is that when an Obi comes in, he uses a private house as a palace. When he passes away, his successor does the same.”
“Therefore, we came up with the idea to build a palace where the Obi can reside upon taking office, ensuring continuity of leadership. When God calls him, the community will clean up the place for the next person who will then inhabit the palace.”
“Our governor recognizes the importance of the traditional institution, as evidenced by the visit of the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to meet with traditional rulers.
“We appreciate your presence here, demonstrating your support for our governor’s initiatives in Delta State.”
The project commissioning team also visited the palaces of the Obis, including HRM Oneamechi Josiah Kanyinaga I of Obomkpa, HRH Obi Nonso Nwoko of Idumuje-Ugboko, HRM Obi Charles Chukwunwike Anyasi of Idumuje-Unor, and HRM Obi Nduka of Issele-Uku.
Members of the commissioning team included Hon. Mrs. Bridget Anyafulu (Member, DTHA, Oshimili South Constituency), Hon. Emmanuel Bazim Chinye (Chairman, Aniocha North Local Government Council), Hon. Innocent Esewezie (Chairman, Oshimili North Local Government Council), Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza (Commissioner for Special Duties, Government House), Odinigwe Odigie Daniel (Commissioner for Science and Technology).
State Deputy Chairman of the PDP, Elder Moses Iduh; State Women Leader of the PDP, Chief Mrs. Dora Sakpaide, State Organizing Secretary of the PDP, Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor, State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Hon. Chief Sunday Apah, State Treasurer of the PDP, Chief Chibuzor Uwajei; State Legal Adviser of the PDP, Barr. Hessington Okolo; Engr.
