Oyibode, Declares War Against Hard Drugs – Vows Arrest, Prosecution of Dealers

In a bold and proactive move to combat the growing menace of drug abuse in Udu Local Government Area, the Executive Chairman, Olorogun (Hon.) Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode, JP FCIA, has announced the formation of a dedicated taskforce to clamp down on the sale and distribution of hard drugs within the area.

The Udu Council Boss Oyibode made this known today Monday 28/07/25 during a lecture talk held at the Chapel at the Otor-Udu Local Government Secretariat. He expressed deep concern over the devastating effects of drug abuse, particularly among the youths and stressed that the council will no longer tolerate those who are destroying lives and communities through the illegal drug trade.

“The time has come for us to take a firm stand. We are setting up a Taskforce in Udu to identify and arrest those involved in the sale of hard drugs. They will face the full wrath of the law. These substances have shattered countless lives, and we must act now to protect our future,” Oyibode declared.

The Chairman further revealed that he has officially contacted the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), urging the agency to collaborate with the council in eradicating the drug problem plaguing the area.

He also used the opportunity to call on parents and guardians to take greater responsibility in monitoring their children and wards, emphasizing that the home remains the first line of defense against social vices.

“I strongly frown at those who sell these dangerous substances. If there are no sellers, there will be no buyers. We must all unite to root out this evil from our land,” he added.

This development signals a new era of proactive leadership and community safeguarding under the Oyibode-led administration.
