Over 500 Roads Approved, None In Udu/Ughelli South — Chief Ayoma Cries Out
The Spokesman of Iwhrekreka Community and Deputy Director of Media and Publicity at the Okobaro Royal Palace, Multiple Chief Freeborn Ayoma, has issued a strong appeal to Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, over the growing neglect and deplorable state of roads in the Udu/Ughelli South axis of the state, popularly referred to as the U3 Federal Constituency.
Speaking to newsmen at the Express Junction, Ayoma decried the total exclusion of Udu and Ughelli South Local Government Areas from the over 500 roads recently approved by the State Executive Council (SEC). According to him, the situation is unacceptable and smacks of gross injustice and marginalization.
He called on all political appointees from the U3 Federal Constituency, including the Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Hon. Reuben Izeze (representing Ughelli South), the Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Hon. Chief Peter Uviejitobor (representing Udu), and members of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Festus Otuama and Hon. Collins Egbetamah, to immediately liaise with the governor and demand inclusion or tender their resignation within seven days.
“Enough is enough,” Ayoma said. “Our representatives have failed us. Their primary duty is to speak for their people during State Executive Council meetings, especially on matters as critical as road infrastructure. If they cannot stand for us, then they should resign.”
Ayoma further emphasized the urgent need for the following critical roads to be awarded to reputable construction firms such as Julius Berger or Setraco to alleviate the sufferings of commuters in the area:
- Dualization of Udu Express to ECN
- DSC Gate, Oleri to Obubu Road
- Ubogo to Ogbe-Udu Road
- Ukpiovwen Junction (Jehovah Witness) to Oghior Road
- Oruwhorun Town via Erhi-Pihrhon Junction to Otor-Udu
- Health Centre Road, Owhrode to Emas Hotel Junction, Usiefrun
- Usiefrun Road to Iwhrekreka through Otor-Edo
- Ugbisi Junction to Emadadja Town
- Ophorigbala Road in Ughelli South
- Otutuama Town Road in Ughelli South
- Esaba-Urhobo Bridge Construction
- Link Bridge from Oruwhorun to Otokutu
- Bridge to Arhavwarien Kingdom
- Owhrokpokpo Junction by ECN Express into the Town
He concluded that failure to address these road infrastructure concerns is a betrayal of the trust reposed in elected and appointed officials from the constituency.
“This is not just about bad roads,” Ayoma said. “This is about equity, justice, and meaningful representation. U3 deserves better.”
