ODYSSEY OF LIES AND DSP OVIE OMO-AGEGE DESPERATION FOR POWER
By Comr Lucky Futughe
The emergence of social networking channels have made it easier to fact check desperate politicians whose penchant for disinformation is well established. Just like the case of Judas Iscariot, lies only reign supreme in the absence of truth. Politicians who engage in deliberate falsehood will only win in the past and not in the contemporary Nigeria that is highly informed. We shall x-ray DSP Ovie Omo-Agege sequential lies in his quest to grab power through the back door.
The personality traits of the Governorship candidate of the APC is consistent with desperation underpinned with clannish philosophy driven by greed. Political pundits and analysts have continued to review the political ideology of DSP Omo-Agege, it is the one characterised by inconsistencies. The serial migration from political party to another, his desires to topple leadership structures, sequential lies has placed him above any other politician as a legendary liar.
The emergence of the APC led Federal Government in 2015, they hurriedly mounted a very huge signboard of Levant Construction Company at the Sapele end of the road, as the contractor for the of the Sapele Eku Abraka Obiaruku Agbor Igbanke Uromi road. However, Deltans and Nigerians in genral continue to suffer the deceit with the dilapidated road infrastructures across Delta Central. Recently, the Deputy Senate President announced approval of another N80 Billion naira for the road less than 6 months to the expiration of the failed APC administration. What they could not achieve in almost 8years, they want to in 5 months. Is this not another political stunt from the king of lies?
The desperation was taken to another stratum when he assembled Urhobo Kings to lie to them that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa betrayed the South South when actually he supported Senate President Ahmed Lawan by ordering Delta State delegates of the APC to vote for SP Lawan who is also from the North. This is a case of bitterness because the incoming president Alh Atiku Abubakar won and his preferred aspirant lost. As a true son of Urhobo Nation, one would have expected he explained to the traditional rulers of the strategic benefits of his immediate boss becoming the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria rather than following the path of deceit. In any case, lies are part of DSP Ovie Omo-Agege’s DNA. A man who can lie to the custodians of our customs and traditions cannot be trusted with power. The same lies they sold to Nigerians in 2015 led us into penury, insecurity, tribalism, nepotism, etc.
The clannish nature of the Delta State APC Governorship candidate is lucid as River Umutu. In the floor of the senate, critical issues that affect the lives of the people are rather left in untouched while he continues his Orogun agenda. The Orogun born Senator forgot that the votes that sent him to the senate came from 8 LGAs. Therefore, opportunities should be equitably distributed. This clannish attitude has continued unabated and those who dare, are shown the exit door. One would wonder if the abandoned Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Osubi is in another State. This is a Federal Government project that was abandoned and 7 years down the line, not a single motion to draw the attention of the Buhari led administration yet he has so much interest in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
In a viral video where the deceitful Senator Omo-Agege boasted that he wrote the Amended Electoral Act because of the peculiar nature of Delta State, was also watched in another viral video where he vehemently resisted the electronic transmission of results because the days of rigging is over for him. He has shown repeatedly that integrity is not in his dictionary. A man of weak philosophy of life motivated by greed. The humongous pre-election matters before the courts are largely due to the Amendment of the Electoral Act that targets some states as widely claimed by DSP Ovie Omo-Agege. This statement was criticised by former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and many political pundits.
The wanton destruction of lives and properties in Uwheru, Ughelli North LGA and Abraka, Ethiope East LGA with the deafening silence of the ranking Senator is something to bother the Senatorial District. The 5th man in the hierarchy of Nigeria was quiet while his constituents were being slaughtered by suspected foreigners. Just like Senator Seriake Dickson, he spoke against the screening process of CBN nominees in a critical times when a new banking policies are about starting. The least the Delta Central senator could have done was to speak up against the massacres but he lost his voice in burning National issues.
In furtherance to his Odyssey of lies, he tried to hoodwink the people of Ethiope East and Sapele LGA of an audio restoration of suppressed constituencies. The Deputy Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria lies seamlessly without shame in a highly exalted office. The lists of lies are endless. In the face of uncertainty created by the APC led administration, the minimum citizens require from their leaders is honesty which is deficient in the APC gubernatorial candidate.
Consequently, Deltans have heard enough of lies and citizens are only interested in candidates that can address their fundamental concerns devoid of ethnic biases. Hence, Deltans must reject Sen Ovie Omo-Agege at polls because he lacks all the paraphernalia of a leader. Atiku Abubakar Governor Ifeanyi A.
