Oborevwori: Environmental Sustainability, Cleanliness, and Public Safety Are My Top Priorities

Delta State Governor, His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori , has once again reiterated the unwavering commitment of his administration to the core values of environmental sustainability, cleanliness, and public safety, as encapsulated in his MORE AGENDA blueprint.
The governor made this emphatic declaration earlier today, Thursday, July 17, 2025, during a strategic engagement with the Chairman of the Delta State Taskforce on Environment, Hon. Chief Godspower Omafuvwe Asiuwhu JP. The meeting focused on evaluating ongoing environmental interventions and charting the way forward in ensuring a cleaner and safer Delta.
Governor Oborevwori emphasized the critical need for sustained efforts and heightened performance from the Taskforce in tackling all forms of environmental infractions. He noted that the cleanliness and safety of the Delta environment have a direct and lasting impact on the health, productivity, and general well-being of residents and indigenes.
In his words, “Environmental sustainability, cleanliness, and public safety are not optional – they are fundamental components of the developmental vision of our administration. I urge the Taskforce to intensify efforts in correcting all forms of non-compliance with environmental laws, reclaiming government lands illegally occupied, and demolishing structures that violate planning and sanitation standards.”
While commending the remarkable achievements recorded so far by the Taskforce under the proactive leadership of Chief Asiuwhu, the governor further charged him and his team to remain committed, resilient, courageous, and purpose-driven.
“You must be proactive and focused. Governance is complex, but with dedication and clarity of purpose, we can achieve the desired results within the timeframe of our MORE AGENDA,” the governor added.
The meeting underscores the Oborevwori-led government’s continued resolve to enforce environmental regulations, promote public health, and ensure that Delta State remains clean, habitable, and environmentally friendly for all.
Chief Asiuwhu, in his response, thanked the governor for his constant support and pledged that the Taskforce will not relent in delivering on its mandate for a cleaner and safer Delta.
