Mictra Impact Creates Awareness On Proper Waste Disposal, Doles Out Waste Bags To Delta Residents
By: Joy Alamu.
The MD/CEO of Mictra Impact Limited, Ewansubhor Micah, a Private Sector Partner (PSP) in Effurun, collaborated with the Delta State Waste Management Board to raise awareness about proper waste disposal. This initiative was prompted by the indiscriminate dumping of refuse, especially on road medians, by Delta residents and shop owners.
On Saturday, April 27, 2024, Mr. Micah, along with his team and the Delta State Waste Management Board, conducted a special cleanup exercise at Jakpa Road, Effurun, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility. During the sensitization campaign, they visited premises on Jakpa Road to clear refuse and promote the use of waste bags for easier collection from homes and offices.
Mr. Micah emphasized Delta State’s need for cleanliness and pledged to continue promoting proper environmental practices until they become ingrained in society. He highlighted waste segregation as a means to alleviate the workload and improve the efficiency of waste collectors.
Drawing from his fifteen years of experience in waste collection, Mr. Micah stressed the potential for wealth creation from waste and underscored the importance of better environmental practices for overall cleanliness.
He announced that the cleanup exercise would continue in May and June, extending to other areas in Uvwie Local Government Area. Additionally, he engaged with various radio and TV stations to educate the public on proper waste disposal.
Highlights of the cleanup exercise by Mictra Impact Limited included the distribution of free waste bags to residents and shop owners, along with education on their proper use. Vegetation control and waste collection were conducted along Jakpa Road, Effurun, with over six hours dedicated to the exercise.
The cleanup was supervised by the State Waste Management Board, Chief Environmental Health Officers, Comrade Oguoru-Okodaso Ejiro and Onojeghuo Erere.
