Late Captain Gabriel Ogbedobor & Kajarina Ogbedobor laid to rest in grand style
By Kelvin Ohoror
Legacy of love, devotion and an unbreakable bond as the remains of Late Captain Gabriel Onowo Ogbedobor and his wife Mrs. Kajarina Roseline Ogbedobor were laid to rest in grand style in their country home, Uzere, Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State.
In the quiet agrarian, fishing, and oil community of Uzere, Delta State Nigeria, hosting SPDC facilities, a remarkable love story unfolded.
Pa Gabriel Onowo Ogbedobor and Mama Kajarina Roseline Ogbedobor defied the conventional marriage vow of “till death do us part” in the most extraordinary way.
Born on February 9,1936, Pa Gabriel grew up in Uzere under the guidance of his strict father. His early life instilled in him a strong work ethic, which would serve him well in his future endeavours. After completing his primary education in I948, he embarked on a career with the Federal Ministry of Transport, navigating the Inland waterways of Delta State.
As his contemporaries settled down, he felt the urge to find his life partner. He sought his father’s help, and in 1958, he married the lovely Miss Kajarina Roseline Akora. Mama Roseline, a successful businesswoman, had attended L.A Primary School, Uzere. Her entrepreneurial spirit and determination earned her a fortune in the Gold trade and provisions business.
Together, the couple navigated life’s challenges, moving from Forcados to Warri and Sapele and finally settling at their retirement home Uzere. Their devotion to each other and their community was top-notch and evident in their active membership in St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Uzere.
The 65 years marriage was blessed with thirteen children, nine of whom survived. As Pa Gabriel passed away peacefully on April 3rd, 2024, at the ripe full age of 88, his family began preparations for his funeral. In a surprising turn of events, Mama Roseline, still sharp and active, shared stories of their life together with her children.
But unfortunately, on 2nd January, 2025, Mama Roseline joined her beloved husband in eternal rest. Their remarkable story will be etched in history as a testament to the power of true love.
