Grand Opening of the MORE Agenda Free Skill Acquisition and Empowerment Program Held in Ovwian, Udu

In a bold move to drive community development and youth empowerment, the Oritsegbegbemi Maurice Ojo-Ede (OMO) Foundation, in collaboration with the Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Community Development, officially flagged off the MORE Agenda Free Skill Acquisition and Empowerment Program today at Grace Group Skol, Ovwian, Udu Local Government Area.
The well-attended grand opening ceremony marked a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts of the Delta State Government to equip its citizens, especially the youth, with practical skills and tools necessary for financial independence and long-term sustainability.
In his keynote address, the founder of the OMO Foundation, Dr. Oritsegbegbemi Maurice Ojo-Ede, expressed profound gratitude to His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, for his unwavering commitment to the MORE Agenda—an initiative tailored towards Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security across the state.
Dr. Ojo-Ede commended the state government’s proactive stance on youth empowerment and community development, noting that the program is a direct response to the Governor’s visionary leadership. He highlighted the importance of skill acquisition in today’s evolving economy, stating:
“In a rapidly changing world, skills are the new currency. This program is not just about training; it’s about transforming lives, reducing poverty, and building a better future for our people.”
He further urged all beneficiaries to embrace the opportunity with seriousness and dedication, assuring them that the initiative will not only impart technical know-how but also provide startup support to ensure immediate economic engagement post-training.
The ceremony witnessed an impressive turnout of aspiring trainees from within and outside Udu, community leaders, youth representatives, and various stakeholders who applauded the initiative and pledged support for its success.
As the program kicks off fully, participants will receive training in various vocational fields including fashion design, hairdressing, catering, ICT, welding, barbing, and more—setting a new pace for grassroots development under the MORE Agenda blueprint.
The event ended on a high note with a vote of thanks from the coordinating team, expressing optimism that the empowerment scheme would produce a new generation of skilled, self-reliant, and community-conscious individuals ready to contribute meaningfully to the growth of Delta State.
