Gov. Oborevwori Has Not Abandoned Isoko Federal Constituency — Ukodhiko Sets the Record Straight

By Hon. Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko.

Recently, the Isoko social media space has been awash with negative insinuations from some quarters concerning the alleged neglect of the good people of Isoko North and South Federal Constituency by the Government of Delta State, and as your representative, I have decided to lend my voice to the discussion, giving verifiable evidence that proves such allegations to be untrue and why I feel the Isoko people were not abandoned or neglected.

I begin by establishing it as a fact that as the Representative of the people of Isoko North and South federal constituency at the House of Representatives, I recognise that my overriding duty is to actively contribute towards promoting, protecting, and entrenching public policies, programmes and activities that impact positively on the wellbeing and welfare of my constituents.

And it is on this basis I speak, and I want to assure my constituents that no other considerations or inclinations, including political will, make me shirk from this sacred duty to them.

Without gainsaying, I state unequivocally that Governor Oborevwori is a committed pan-Deltan who prioritises the equitable, fair distribution and spread of infrastructure and programmes across the length and breadth of the state, which includes Isoko Federal Constituency, without bias.

For the records, since his assumption of office two years ago, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has executed projects that cut across road infrastructure (both internal road networks) in rural and urban communities and has made a tremendous impact onhealthcare upgrades and significant interventions in our tertiary education in Isoko.

Among key road projects being delivered in Isoko North are the construction and rehabilitation of the Emevor-Ivrogbo-Orogun Road (Phases I and II), which was earlier abandoned for years, the rehabilitation of the impacted section of the Ellu-Aradhe Road, and the construction of Urueode internal roads in Ofagbe.

Akiewhe-Amiere-IDU Secretariat Road has also been rehabilitated, alongside the construction of Evemawoma Ogoma and Onome streets in Otor-Igho and the construction of Ogoruba, Eduje Matthew, and Enaruvbe streets in Otor-Igho.

Otekpo Road in Ellu and the extensive rehabilitation of the Ekiugbo-Iyede/Oghara-Iyede/Emevor Old Road with four newly constructed spurs. Construction of internal roads in Iyede, Iwride-Iyede, and Aradhe-Idoni-Ovrode is presently ongoing. These projects, when completed, will massively impact the lives of our people.

In Isoko South, numerous internal roads have been constructed across Oleh, Olomoro, Irri, Aviara, Okpolo-Enhwe, Emede, Igbide, Idheze, and Uzere. Some of the key projects include the Okpolo-Enhwe-Uwheru Road (Phase III), Ajuwawa Layout Roads in Uzere, Ojareda Enase Street in Irri, the Uruaka-Express Link Road in Emede, and the rehabilitation and overlay of the Edherie-Ase and Olomoro-Igbide Roads.

The Governor Oborevwori administration has also reconstructed the failed bridge along Umeh Road, rehabilitated sections of the Uzere-Asaba-Ase Road, and executed road works on the Enuru/Ukoli access road and Ukoli-Uruabe-Egbo-Uzude-Enuru Roads in Olomoro.

In the education sector, the Southern Delta University, Ozoro, has witnessed extensive transformation, including the recruitment of 75 academic staff, successful accreditation of new courses, and the completion of key infrastructure such as the Vice-Chancellor’s Lodge, Administrative Building, and new Faculty of Health Sciences. These interventions were complemented by the expansion of Southern Delta University (SDU), Ozoro, to accommodate a new College of Medical Sciences.

The health sector has also seen remarkable improvements, especially at the primary level. Renovation works have been carried out at Primary Healthcare Centres in Emevor, Oleh, Irri, Uruto, Ofagbe, Ellu, Iyede, Igbide, Okpe-Isoko, and Enhwe. These facilities are now better equipped to provide quality health services to rural populations.

In another strategic move, the establishment of the College of Health Technology in Ovrode and the equipping of the General Hospital in Ozoro demonstrate the government’s commitment to building sustainable healthcare infrastructure in the Isoko region, and all these are people-orientated projects.

From roads and schools to health infrastructure, the Isoko Nation has been a major beneficiary of this administration’s development blueprint.

I assure the people of Isoko Federal Constituency that their welfare remains a top priority to the state government and to those of us who are in government today.

In line with its Needs Assessment Framework and consultation with the people, the government will continue to ensure the copious and rightful allocation of critical infrastructure to Isoko North and South Federal Constituency in subsequent budgets and Executive Council meetings because that’s what we all wish for, and I am aware the Isoko political class is in touch with the governor for more project(s) to be sited in Isoko in addition to the great one he have been doing for Isoko nations.

In conclusion, I want to urge us to remain calm and avoid agitations that will put us in a bad light, as Governor Sheriff Oborevwori will never abandon the Isoko people.

I want to extend my sincere commendation to all our elected and appointed political office holders, especially critical state actors and constituents, for their immense support of the government of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

I equally wish to use this medium to appreciate our revered traditional rulers, religious leaders, and our teeming youths for their continued support for this administration.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
God bless Delta State!
God bless the Isoko Nation.
