DESOPADEC Chairman, John Nani Bags Distinguished Personality Award at Delta Health College Convocation.

The Chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Olorogun John Nani has been honoured with the Distinguished Personality Award by the Delta State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ofuoma, Ughelli.
The prestigious award was presented yesterday Saturday, January 31, 2025, during the institution’s 8th Convocation Ceremony which drew dignitaries from across Delta State.
While presenting the award, the Provost of the College, Dr. (Mrs.) Odiete Eravweroso Congrat stated that the honour was conferred in recognition of Olorogun John Nani’s outstanding contributions to public service, infrastructural development as well as his unflinching support for education and human capital development in Delta State.
According to her, the DESOPADEC Chairman has consistently demonstrated visionary cum charismatic leadership and a strong commitment to the advancement of oil-producing communities which made him deserving of the institution’s highest recognition.
Speaking to journalists after receiving the award on behalf of Olorogun John Nani, the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Delta State Chapter, Comrade Sagboje Odiri Milton, CLN, described the honour as a testament to selfless service and impactful leadership.
“This award is a call to do more. Sometimes, there are things you do quietly without knowing that people are watching and taking note. For an institution of this calibre to honour Olorogun John Nani shows that his efforts have not gone unnoticed and we are truly humbled by this recognition,” Comrade Sagboje said.
He added that the award reflects the high esteem in which the DESOPADEC Chairman is held and noted that it would further motivate him to deepen his commitment to development across oil-producing communities in the state.
Comrade Sagboje also congratulated the graduating students, urging them to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to excellence, describing their graduation as a major milestone worthy of celebration.
Responding to questions on whether the award would spur the DESOPADEC Chairman to do more, he described the honour as “a tap on the back that confirms one is doing well,” stressing that such recognition encourages public office holders to deliver more in line with the expectations of government and the people.
The 8th Convocation Ceremony also witnessed the graduation of students across various health-related disciplines, further reaffirming the College’s vital role in manpower development for the health sector in Delta State.
