Delta @ 34: A Call for Unity in Diversity, United in Progress – Lady E. Ejiro Umukoro
As Delta State marks its 34th anniversary, Lady E. Ejiro Umukoro, Founder and Publisher of LightRay Media, has called on Deltans to embrace unity in diversity and remain steadfast in building a state anchored on equity, progress, and shared prosperity.
Reflecting on the creation of Delta State, Lady Umukoro described the 34-year journey as one driven by the resilience, determination, and collective vision of its people.
“From the creeks to the cities, our people have worked tirelessly to build a Delta that is a beacon of hope and progress,” she stated.
According to her, Delta’s strength lies in its diversity, which should be harnessed to drive inclusiveness and sustainable development across all sectors. She urged Deltans to draw inspiration from their rich cultural heritage while reaffirming their commitment to justice, equity, and prosperity.
“Let us celebrate the achievements of our people — from entrepreneurs building successful businesses to artists bringing joy and beauty to our lives. Let us also recognize the vital role of our women, the sacrifices of our men, and the energy of our youth who are the leaders of tomorrow,” she added.
Looking ahead, Lady Umukoro stressed the need for collective action in strengthening critical sectors such as infrastructure, education, and healthcare to secure a brighter future for generations to come.
She further noted that the state’s journey has not been without challenges but expressed confidence that the resilience of Deltans would continue to chart the path of progress.
