Ayoma Calls For Halt To Unlawful Blockade Of NPA Expressway By Itsekiri Youths
In a recent development surrounding the protest by Itsekiri youths, who blocked the NPA Expressway in Warri to voice their dissatisfaction with the results of the INEC ward delineation, Multiple Chief Freeborn Ayoma, a prominent Urhobo leader, has urged the protesters to respect both the court ruling and the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Chief Ayoma emphasized that the Nigeria Port Authority( NPA)a critical federal government Parastatal should not be obstructed under any circumstances. He pointed out that such actions could create unnecessary tensions in the region and hinder the peaceful development of the area. He further called on the three Warri Monarchs — HRM Kingsley Orereh (Igbi II), the Ovie of Agbarha-Warri Kingdom, HRM Tsola Emiko Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri, and HRM Morris Ogheneochuko Eyekpimi, the Orosuen of Okere Urhobo Warri Kingdom — to intervene and help resolve the dispute.
Ayoma expressed his desire for peace in Warri, reiterating his hope that the protests would not escalate into a crisis. He also reminded the Itsekiri youths that Warri belongs to a collective group of communities, including the Urhobos, Itsekiris, and Ijaws, and that any form of protest should be conducted with respect for all parties involved.
Speakingfurther, Ayoma commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his notable developmental initiatives since assuming office, urging the public not to allow protests to disrupt the governor’s progress in enhancing the state’s growth.
The call for peace and collaboration among the different ethnic groups in Warri continues to grow, as stakeholders seek to maintain harmony and promote the ongoing positive developments in the region.
