Army Recruitment Drive: Sagboje Pushes for Equity, Increased Youth Participation

The Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Delta State Chapter, Comr. Sagboje, Odiri Milton, has emphasized the need to create a balance across all sectors of national development, noting that military service remains a critical pillar in nation-building.

Sagboje made this assertion during a sensitization engagement with a delegation from the Chief of Army Staff led by Brigadier General M.U. Ikobah, who are in Delta State to promote awareness on the ongoing 91 Regular Recruit Intake into the Nigerian Army.

According to him, “We must create a balance in every sector. While many youths are pursuing careers in business, technology, and other professions, it is equally important that we have strong representation in the Armed Forces. This balance is essential for national security, unity, and sustainable development.”

He described enlistment into the Nigerian Army as a noble call to service, offering young people the opportunity to develop discipline, leadership skills, and a sense of patriotism, while contributing meaningfully to the nation’s stability.

Sagboje further urged eligible youths across Delta State to take advantage of the ongoing recruitment exercise, assuring them of the support of the State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and the guidance of the NYCN at both state and local government levels.

He also called on parents, traditional institutions, and community leaders to encourage and support interested youths, stressing the need to dispel misconceptions about military careers.

The NYCN Chairman reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to assisting applicants, especially those encountering challenges during the application process, and encouraged them to reach out for necessary guidance.
