Oyibode Urges Udu Social Media Practitioners and Comedians to Shun Proposed Nationwide Protest
Udu, Delta State – The Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Olorogun(Hon.) Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode JP FCIA, has called on Udu social media practitioners and members of the Comedians and MCs Association of Nigeria, Udu Zone Chapter, to refrain from participating in the proposed nationwide protest. The appeal was made today Wednesday, 24/07/24 during a congratulatory visit by the two groups to Oyibode’s office at Otor-Udu, where they also commended him for his recent appointments of their members.
Reflecting on the aftermath of the cashless policy protest, Oyibode highlighted the devastating impact on Udu, noting the destruction of three commercial banks. He emphasized that protests leading to the destruction of public facilities hinders development and expressed concern that Udu is yet to fully recover from the disruption, as residents now travel to Warri and surrounding areas for banking services.
Speaking on behalf of the groups, Ambassador Sirwilly Etuwere and MC Tonito Ikechukwu assured the Chairman that they would actively campaign against the upcoming nationwide strike. They emphasized the need for peace and stability in Udu, citing the prolonged recovery from the EndSARS protests as a cautionary tale. Both representatives expressed confidence in Oyibode’s leadership, praising his proactive measures to improve the sorry state of roads in the region.
The groups conveyed their optimism that Oyibode’s administration would usher in unprecedented development for Udu. They highlighted his commitment to infrastructure and community welfare, believing these efforts would significantly transform the area.
The Chairman’s call to action underscores the importance of safeguarding public infrastructure and fostering a conducive environment for development. As Udu continues to rebuild, the collaboration between local leaders and community influencers like social media practitioners and comedians will be crucial in promoting peace and progress.
