Ayoma Urges Delta State Government to Acquire DSC to Slash Youth Unemployment
An APC chieftain from Jeremi Ward One, Ughelli South, and convener of Rev Waive and Sheriff Return 2027, Chief Freeborn Ayoma has called on the Delta State Government to acquire the Delta Steel Company (DSC) and engage foreign partners to revive the steel plant.
Speaking at the Aladja Cultural Festival of Tikoro, Chief Ayoma emphasized that reviving DSC would create employment opportunities for over one million Deltans, significantly reducing youth unemployment in the state.
Chief Ayoma further highlighted that the funds allocated for the five flyovers across Delta State could instead be used to purchase DSC and rejuvenate the steel industry. He lamented the deteriorating state of the only federal steel asset in Delta, describing its decay as a source of “great pain” to the people.
Ayoma made the call while interacting with journalists at the festival, where he was received by Hon. Chief Jite Brown, Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor, at his country home.
He stressed that strategic investment in DSC would not only create jobs but also boost industrialization and economic development across Delta State.
