The Chairman of Urhobo Palace Representatives on Oil and Gas, Chief Wilson Ejeben, has called on political appointees and government representatives to prioritize meaningful grassroots development as the true measure of leadership support.

In a statement shared on his social media platforms, Chief Ejeben stressed that mere displays of loyalty through billboards, social media endorsements, and public praise are insufficient to demonstrate genuine commitment to leadership.

According to him, “True leadership and promotion are measured by meaningful impact,” urging appointees of governors and the president, as well as representatives of government administrations, to shift focus toward projects that directly improve the lives of the people.

He emphasized the importance of community-based initiatives, noting that even small-scale projects can make a significant difference when they address real needs at the grassroots level.

“What matters is the tangible difference they make in people’s lives. Let your community feel your presence, your effort, and your commitment, just as you value the opportunity granted to you by those in power,” he stated.

Chief Ejeben further reminded public office holders that their primary responsibility is to the people, stressing that they serve as a bridge between leadership and the grassroots.

Highlighting the political significance of development, he noted that visible and impactful projects remain the most credible way to promote any leader or candidate, particularly as elections draw closer.

“The most effective way to promote any leader or candidate is through visible development at the grassroots level. When the people benefit, your support becomes real, credible, and undeniable,” he added.

With elections approaching, the Urhobo leader urged appointees and political actors to focus on delivering measurable results that will positively impact their communities and strengthen public trust in governance.
