Police Arrest Six Over Assault Of Young Women In Ozoro

The Delta State Police Command has swung into action following disturbing reports of the alleged assault of young women during a local event at Oramudu Quarters in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area.

The Command confirmed that the Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, ordered an immediate investigation after videos of the incident surfaced online, sparking outrage and widespread condemnation.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, swift intervention by operatives led to the arrest of the alleged chief organiser, Omorede Sunday, alongside five other suspects in connection with the incident.

Preliminary findings indicate that the suspects were involved in acts of violence against the victims during the event, although full details of the circumstances surrounding the assault are still being investigated.

The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough and discreet probe. Authorities assured that all those found culpable will be made to face the full weight of the law.

The Police Command further urged members of the public to remain calm and cooperate with ongoing investigations, while reiterating its commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of all citizens, especially women and vulnerable groups.

Meanwhile, residents and civil society groups have called for justice for the victims, emphasizing the need for stricter measures to curb violence and ensure the safety of women at public gatherings.
