Valentine Parties Banned In Delta Schools As Oyibode Directs Strict Compliance In Udu.

The Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Olorogun(Hon.), Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode, JP, FCIA has directed all school heads
both public and private and the Chief Inspector of Education in Udu to strictly comply with the Delta State Government’s directive abolishing Valentine parties in schools.

The directive follows an official communication dated February 11, 2026 from the Honourable Commissioner for Secondary Education, Delta State, Dr. Kingsley Nze Ashibogwu, JP.

According to the Ministry, it has observed a widespread practice of organizing Valentine celebrations in schools across the state involving students and teachers. The Ministry noted that such activities have not contributed to academic excellence and instead distract students from their primary educational responsibilities.

The statement emphasized that students should be encouraged to devote their time and energy to productive teaching and learning activities, while school authorities are expected to discourage actions capable of creating learning disruptions.

It further stressed that the Delta State Government remains committed to strengthening educational standards and will not tolerate activities that undermine students’ moral and academic development.

Consequently, all school authorities in the state have been formally prohibited from organizing or permitting Valentine parties within school premises.

Reaffirming the directive, the Udu Council Boss, Oyibode urged stakeholders in the education sector within Udu Local Government Area to ensure full compliance, noting that the policy aligns with the state government’s broader vision of promoting discipline, moral values, and academic excellence in schools.
