The Erhi of Ughievwen Kingdom, Olorogun Aghogho Okpogbodu has congratulated his younger brother Hon. Gift Moke on his emergence as the newly elected President General of Egbo-Uhurie Community.
In a statement made available to newsmen, Olorogun Okpogbodu described Hon. Moke’s victory as “well-deserved and a true reflection of the confidence reposed in him by the people of Egbo-Uhurie.” He expressed optimism that the new administration will usher in unity, progressive engagement, and sustainable development in the community.
He urged the President General-elect to remain focused, transparent, and people-oriented, stressing that leadership at the community level plays a crucial role in strengthening grassroots development and fostering peace among residents.
Meanwhile, in a related development, Olorogun Aghogho Okpogbodu has announced his resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and subsequent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, the move marks “a strategic alignment with a platform where my political ideals, vision for development, and desire for effective representation can be better actualized.”
He further noted that his decision was taken after wide consultations with political associates, stakeholders, and supporters within Ughievwen Kingdom and beyond.
Olorogun Okpogbodu affirmed his commitment to contributing meaningfully to the political and developmental growth of Udu and Ughievwen, calling on his supporters to remain steadfast as he begins a new political chapter under the APC.
His defection has continued to generate discussions across political circles in the local government, with analysts describing it as a development that may reshape grassroots political dynamics ahead of future elections.
