Keston Okoro to Sowore: Respect the Rule of Law, Stop Playing Politics With Nnamdi Kanu’s Case.

The National President of the National Renewed Hope Movement (NRM), Hon. Dr. Liege-Lord Keston Okoro Muhammad Al-Amin, has issued a stern warning to Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore, advising him to steer clear of issues concerning the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and allow the people of the South East to handle the matter appropriately.
Dr. Keston Okoro Muhammad, in a strongly worded statement, cautioned Sowore not to “cry more than the bereaved,” noting that meddling in the affairs of others could worsen the already fragile situation in the South East.
“Resolutely, we will not compromise dealing with any person or group of persons found wanting or attempting to destabilize the goodwill of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which is fixing the economy and political structure of the nation for the advancement and well-being of the citizens,” he stated.
The NRM leader emphasized that the destructive insecurity currently ravaging the South East region was the consequence of Nnamdi Kanu’s past actions, alleging that IPOB members under his instruction were responsible for the killings of many innocent Nigerians.
“If I may ask, who will free the innocent souls killed by IPOB and bring them back to life?” he queried.
Dr. Keston further asserted that Nigeria’s independence was achieved through political negotiation, not through violent protests, and warned that any region seeking separation from the 1914 amalgamation must do so through constitutional and political means rather than illegal and violent approaches.
He stressed that the case between Nnamdi Kanu and the Federal Government is already before a competent court of law, urging all parties to respect the rule of law.
“A man who is not accepted, not appointed, nor mandated as an arbitrator should not impose himself into a dispute. Sowore should come out publicly and tell Nigerians what his hidden agenda truly is,” he added.
The NRM President questioned whether Sowore had been invited by Nnamdi Kanu, his lawyers, or any South East leaders to act as an advocate or mediator in the matter.
“Did Ohanaeze Ndigbo request your intervention or employ you to advocate on their behalf? None of the South East Governors, Senators, House of Representatives members, or Local Government Chairmen have called for your involvement in this case,” he noted.
Drawing parallels with other cases of national security concern, Dr. Keston cited Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), Asari Dokubo, and Sunday Igboho, who he said resolved their issues with the government through lawful dialogue rather than violence or street protests.
He therefore called on Nigerians and all advocates of equity, justice, and democracy to shun any proposed protests, riots, or revolutionary movements allegedly being orchestrated by Sowore, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and others, warning that such actions are politically motivated and intended to destabilize the nation.
“These are not genuine movements for the people; they are political scripts aimed at hijacking power for selfish interests,” Dr. Keston declared.
