Oyibode Warns Against Sale of Government Lands in Udu, Vows to Prosecute Offenders.

The Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Olorogun (Hon.) Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode JP, FCIA, has issued a stern warning to individuals and groups allegedly involved in the illegal sale of government lands allocated to public schools within the Udu Local Government Area.

Oyibode, who gave the warning recently while mediating in the lingering dispute in Oleri Community, described the act as criminal, adding that his administration will not condone any attempt to commercialize or privatize lands originally designated for government institutions.

He expressed dismay that some disgruntled elements in certain communities have resorted to selling portions of land meant for public schools, thereby jeopardizing the future expansion and development of educational facilities in the area.

According to him, “Any person caught selling or encroaching on government-owned lands, particularly those allocated to schools, will be treated as a criminal. Such lands will be reclaimed immediately, and the perpetrators will be handed over to security agencies for prosecution.”

The Udu Council Boss emphasized that his administration remains committed to protecting all government assets within the locality, warning community leaders and land committees to desist from approving or supporting the unlawful sale of government lands.

He further advised community leaders and other stakeholders to report any suspected illegal transactions involving public lands to the council or relevant authorities, assuring that his government will take decisive action to safeguard the collective interest of the people.

Oyibode reaffirmed his resolve to promote peace, order, and transparency in all communities under his jurisdiction, stressing that the era of impunity and reckless land dealings is over in Udu Local Government Area.
