Chief Godspower Omafuvwe Asiuwhu JP, Chairman Delta State Taskforce on Environment is a distinguished public servant, visionary politician, and compassionate leader whose life has been defined by service,excellence and with passion for community development, has bagged a recognition award of excellence from the prestigious Delta State University Alumni Association, Ughelli Branch, in recognition of his remarkable achievements in maintaining clean and safe Delta State as Chairman, State Taskforce On Environment, and for being a worthy ambassador of Delta State

Chief Godspower Omafuvwe Asiuwhu JP is a distinguished public servant, visionary politician, and compassionate leader whose life has been defined by service, excellence, and a passion for community development. A native of Uduophori Town in Patani Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Asiuwhu has over the years demonstrated rare capacity, political sagacity, and an unwavering commitment to good governance and environmental sustainability.

He began his academic journey at Ege Primary School, Uduophori, and Olou Primary School, Bomadi, before proceeding to Government College, Bomadi for his secondary education. He is an alumnus of the prestigious Delta State University, Abraka, where he earned a B.Sc. in Geology, and further enriched his academic and professional pedigree with a Diploma in Petroleum Policy and Resource Management from the University of Stavanger, Norway.

His professional career commenced in the Delta State Ministry of Oil and Gas, where he rose through the ranks almost to the level of Director, before fully venturing into politics. Even during his civil service years, he played an active role in grassroots mobilization and political organization.

Chief Asiuwhu’s first major political assignment came when he was appointed as the pioneer Special Assistant on Media to the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa. In that role, he deployed his media expertise to effectively showcase the activities of government and mobilized broad-based support that contributed immensely to the governor’s re-election.

As a tested party man, he went on to serve as Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Patani Local Government Area, where his outstanding leadership, diligence, and organizational prowess secured overwhelming electoral victories for the party under his watch.

A cerebral and dynamic politician, popularly nicknamed “Capacity” and fondly referred to as the “Governor of the Youth”, Chief Asiuwhu is widely respected for his political mapping skills, emotional intelligence, ethical leadership, and inclusiveness, which have endeared him to a broad spectrum of society, especially the youth.

On July 7, 2022, he was appointed and sworn in as Commissioner for Environment by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa. In that capacity, he left indelible marks through numerous initiatives such as: inspection of NEWMAP projects, desiltation of drains and canals, vegetation control, fumigation of government quarters and public places, disaster management sensitization, monitoring of sanitation exercises, construction of culverts, as well as interventions during flood disasters through IDP camp management. In his quest for effective service delivery, he often disguised himself and rode on motorcycles into remote communities to assess environmental challenges first-hand a testament to his commitment to duty.

Recognizing his outstanding contributions, Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori appointed him Chairman of the Delta State Taskforce on Environment. In this role, Chief Asiuwhu has redefined environmental enforcement across Delta State by ensuring compliance with environmental laws, curbing indiscriminate waste disposal, removing illegal structures on waterways and setbacks, discouraging trading under high voltage power lines, and restoring sanity to urban and rural communities. Today, his name has become synonymous with environmental discipline and sustainability in Delta State.

Beyond public service, Chief Asiuwhu is the Omafuvweoghene R’Ovie of the Great Ughelli Kingdom, a chieftaincy honor that underscores his contributions to community development. He is equally a socialite, a unifier, and a leader who has significantly impacted the lives of young people through mentorship, empowerment, and inclusivity in governance.

Chief Godspower Omafuvwe Asiuwhu JP is happily married to Chief Deaconess Mrs. Omafuvwe Philo Asiuwhu JP, and their union is blessed with children.

In recognition of his sterling achievements, sterling leadership qualities, and enduring legacy of service, Chief Asiuwhu stands tall as a political bishop, environmental reformer, and people centered leader whose footprints continue to inspire hope and transformation in Delta State and beyond.
