It was a day of pride and prestige for the people of Udu and Delta State at large as the Nigeria Institute of Management (Chartered) hosted its 19th Annual South-South Zonal Management Summit on Friday, August 1, 2025, at T-Neros Place, near Ovwian Police Station, in Udu Local Government Area, Delta State. The atmosphere was rich with inspiration, professional insight, and well-deserved recognition.
Themed “Leveraging Strategic Partnership for Sustainable Development in Nigeria (South-South Zone),” the summit was not just another professional gathering, it was a celebration of excellence. Presided over by Commodore Abimbola Ayuba (Rtd), FNIM, the President and Chairman of NIM, the event emphasized the power of collaboration, leadership, and innovation in tackling development challenges in the Niger Delta and beyond. The event brought together leaders and professionals across the region to share insights and drive the vision for national growth through strategic collaboration.
One of the high points of the summit was the presentation of the Award of Excellence to a number of distinguished sons of Udu Kingdom, recognized for their unwavering dedication, remarkable leadership, and immense contributions to professional management in Nigeria.
Among the honourees were:
Olorogun (Hon.) Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode, JP, FCIA, the Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, was honoured for his transformational leadership and commitment to community-driven development. Under his stewardship, Udu has witnessed notable advancements in infrastructure, youth empowerment, and administrative reforms.
Also honoured was Hon. Chief Dr. Henry Afure Sakpra (JP), Board Chairman of the Delta State Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Agency. A man known for his grassroots connection and passion for economic empowerment, Dr. Sakpra has played a key role in creating opportunities for small businesses to thrive across Delta State.
The list of honourees also included Olorogun Austine Emaduku (PhD), the highly respected Head of Personnel Management in Ughelli South LGA and Dean of the College of HPMs in Delta State. His commitment to ethical standards, personnel welfare, and training has set a benchmark in local government administration.
For the people of Udu, it was more than an awards ceremony, it was a reminder that excellence, when nurtured and recognized, becomes a force that shapes the future.
